In Memoriam: WMIA Legal Counsel Neil Kuenn

WMIA regretfully reports that the Association’s long-time legal counsel, Neil Kuenn, passed away on Thursday, February 13. Kuenn had announced his retirement last fall, and was inducted into the WMIA Hall of Honor shortly thereafter. The photo above is from the evening he was presented with this recognition by WMIA Chairman of the Board Jim Besonen and Vice-Chairman of the Board Pascal Doucet.

“Neil was a part of WMIA for decades, serving the Wood Machinery Importers Association [one of the current Association’s predecessors] and then the association which resulted from the merge of the Importers and Distributors’ Associations,” Besonen said. “He was instrumental in helping to make WMIA the association it is today. We are grateful for his years of advice and, of course, friendship, and he will be sorely missed. We extend our deepest sympathies to Neil’s wife, Karen, their family, and friends.”

Biesse America participates in Operation Sandwich

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (December 10, 2019) – On most days of the year, the Urban Ministry Center serves 800 sandwiches to its homeless neighbors on the edge of Uptown Charlotte. When people who work at the Biesse Group Charlotte Campus realized that added up to almost 300,000 sandwiches a year, they signed on as sandwich-making elves to support the Center’s Operation Sandwich program.

Biesse supplied all the necessary ingredients, and employees assembled and began hand-making as many sandwiches as possible during their donated lunch hour on December 10th. When the last slice of the last loaf of bread was gone, the Biesse sandwich builders had succeeded in making over 450 sandwiches, neatly stacked and twist-tied inside delivery bags.
