Minneapolis, MN - Manufacturing Day is an annual event, held on October 7 each year, that works to inspire students to pursue a career in manufacturing. On Friday, October 7, WMIA sponsored a Manufacturing Day event, where 28 Coon Rapids High School students visited Lexington Manufacturing Inc. and Hennepin Technical College to learn about careers in the woodworking industry. The students went on a plant tour and learned about the variety of roles in a manufacturing company. The event was a success, with the majority of the attending students noting that they would consider working for a manufacturing company.

The WMIA and WMMA Joint Technology Committee present #jtc27 - a series of short webinars covering technology that is affecting the Wood Machinery Industry.
The latest webinar in this series will cover several use cases for Quick Response (QR) codes that you can easily implement in your organization. From keeping documentation/service manuals up-to-date to creating easy, dynamic links to the latest standard operating procedures on the shop floor, to marketing and simple information exchanges, there are processes that could be made more efficient and more easily trackable by utilizing QR codes. The Joint Technology Committee will highlight these and other significant use cases of this fast-growing barcode technology.
We'll have a short Q&A afterward as well as a survey – and we would like your feedback as to what topics if any, you would like to see more presentations on in the future. It's free to attend - we hope you or one of your colleagues can join us!
